Eagles Cutting DeSean Jackson Over Racist, Antisemitic Tweets?
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson posted a series of controversial tweets on Monday. The comments he made were viewed as both racist and antisemitic in nature. Many are now calling on the Eagles to step up and release the 33-year-old.
In a number of messages posted this week, Jackson referenced a quote allegedly made by Adolf Hitler.
“Hitler said, ‘because the white Jews knows [sic] that the Negros are the real Children of Israel and to keep Americas secret the Jews will black mail America,” he tweeted.
“‘The will extort America, their pan to world domination won’t work if the Negroes know who they were. The white citizens of America will be terrified to know that all this time they’ve been mistreating and discriminating and lynching Children of Israel.’”
DeSean Jackson, posts a quote from Hitler, says he’s not anti-Semitic and then highlights the particularly anti-Semitic part.

The backlash to the tweets was swift.

As of Tuesday morning, the Eagles have not done so yet.

That said, Jackson is not a star player and is hardly worth any sort of headache to Philly brass. Based on that fact alone, it is difficult to see a scenario where the team does not just cut ties with him to spare themselves unnecessary criticism and media bashing.
